My first experience in business was at the age of 15 at school. I used to buy cassette tapes and 35mm film in bulk from Exchange & Mart (who remembers that?), then sell them on to my school mates. That was before the age of PCs, the internet etc. At 21 I started my first business producing technical documentation for the IT and Process Control industries. We had a small office in Olney near Bedford, where we used electronic publishing tools to produce very complex and large-scale documentation systems. That eventually led me into the IT Training business, designing and running workshops across a range of technologies, and running training centres both in my own business and for several industry vendors across Europe, EMEA, Asia and North America.

The next 30+ years involved roles as CEO, MD, General Manager, International VP; working on a global basis and clocking up several million air miles. I scaled several businesses, grew their international footprints and launched several new products and services. During that time I learned, designed and executed a wide variety of leadership and growth/scaling tools, in many different market sectors and business cultures; I realised the benefit of implementing proven systems that enabled businesses to scale with consistency and less drama. ​I gradually focused more on coaching others how to use these systems to achieve their own growth goals, in founder/CEO peer groups, through the coaching of individual founders/CEOs and their executive teams and through various NED roles focused on scaling. Over the years I've successfully completed several acquisitions, a few exits, and have advised many business owners how to scale and achieve a successful exit.
